“Tasmania’s pristine environment provides a unique clarity to the play of light on water and warm hues of sand and soil”

Artistic Work
Stuart has been painting for over 15 years and his work now hangs in both public and private collections throughout Australia and overseas including U.K, Ireland, Singapore, Canada, New Zealand, San Francisco and locally.

Stuart works in oils and acrylics. He paints predominately abstract land and seascapes. The work is usually on a larger scale; with canvasses in excess of 3’ and 6’.

Stuart is one of our top selling Tasmanian Artists. His work has been well received by the public and the wider arts community having been recognised by several significant art prizes and commissions.

Stuart’s paintings capture the vast array of moods Tasmania offers on its coastal plains and rugged interior. The East and South West Coast being a particular passion.

Review by Joeg Andersch (Art Critic)
“Stuart Clues was the man of the moment when Mary Donaldson admired, and indeed ended up owning one of his paintings a few months ago.

Producing large contemporary Tasmanian Landscapes, the Artist is almost instantly recognisable from the intense blues in his work. This remarkable colour has captivated a number of young local artists and almost threatens to push aside the familiar green-grey which so typified the Tasmanian environment when used by artists of a previous generation.

Clues coastal landscapes echo the less inhabited stretches of our coast, where large expanses of beach, rocky outcrops and breaking water present an idyll we all cherish.

It’s no wonder “our Mary” was fascinated by his work”.
